Day 1: Meteora – Delphi

Day 2: Itea – Delphi – Arachova – Nafplio

Our guide will travel you back to the Greek mythology. In the Archaeological Museum of Delphi, one of the most important in Greece, exhibits the history of the Delphic sanctuary, site of the most famous ancient Greek oracle. Its rich collections are comprised primarily of architectural sculpture, statues and minor objects donated to the sanctuary. These reflect its religious, political and artistic activities from its early years in the eight century BC to its decline in Late Antiquity. In the archaeological site you will see the Treasure of the Athenians, the sanctuary of Apollo, the amphitheater, the stadium.

Day 3: Nafplio – Ancient Epidavros – Mykines – Olympia

The Asclepieion of Epidaurus was one of the great pan-Hellenic sanctuaries of antiquity. It belonged to Epidaurus, a small city-state of classical times located on the nearby west coast of the Saronic Gulf, on the site of the present-day settlement of Old Epidaurus. The buildings of the Asclepieion – temples, sports facilities, theater, baths, etc. – were spread in a narrow, mountainous valley surrounded by mountains that leave only one way out to the sea.

Stop At: Palamidi Castle, Eikostis Pemptis Martiou, Nafplio 211 00 Greece
We will visit the castle of Palamidi which lies on a high hill (216m. a.s.l.) to the east of Acronauplia which was first fortified by the Venetians during the second Venetian occupation of the area (1686-1715). It is a typical baroque fortress, based on the plans of the engineers Giaxich and Lasalle. In 1715 it was captured by the Turks and remained under their control until 1822, when it was liberated by the Greeks.

Day 4: Ancient Olympia – Thessaloniki
