In a 19th-century mansion, the Naval Maritime Museum has exhibits on local seafaring history, including old figureheads, sailors’ chests and models of old ships. Nearby is the ruined Oia Castle, known for its sunset views.
Optional visit:Firostefani is an old village north of Fira , the capital of Santorini , which today has merged with them and is their settlement. Its name means ” wreath of Fira ” and is due to its altitude compared to the rest of Fira. It is characterized by traditional houses, narrow streets and views towards the volcano.
Optional visit:Pyrgos Kallistis is a village on the Aegean island of Santorini, Greece, in the Cyclades archipelago. Pyrgos is situated approximately 7 km away from the island’s capital Fira. It is built amphitheatrically on a hill that offers magnificent views of Santorini in almost all directions. On top of this hill remain the ruins of a Venetian castle (Kasteli) that was once the island’s administrative center. Pyrgos is a typical example of medieval architecture with narrow, labyrinthine streets, fortified walls and hidden passages. Nowadays it is one of the villages of Santorini least spoiled by tourism.

The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption sometime in the 16th century BC and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of fine frescoes and many objects and artworks. Akrotiri has been excavated since 1967 after earlier excavations on Santorini.
