Firostefani is an old village north of Fira, the capital of Santorini, which today has joined them and is their settlement. Its name means “crown of Fira” and is due to its altitude in relation to the rest of Fira. It is characterized by traditional houses, narrow alleys and views of the volcano

It is located at the northern end of the island, at a distance of 11 kilometers northwest of Fira and at an altitude of about 121 meters. According to the 2001 census, the settlement has 763 inhabitants.

It is considered as one of the most picturesque places in Greece, with a strong traditional character and is world famous for its sunset.

Megalochori is a village of Santorini, which is located in the southwestern part, about 9 km from Fira. According to the 2001 census it had 460 inhabitants. It is a separate local department of the municipality of Thira. It is one of the most picturesque villages of the island and its existence is recorded from the middle of the 17th century.

Akrotiri is a village of Santorini with a population of 355 inhabitants, according to the 2011 Census. It is located at the southwestern tip of the island, at a distance of 15 km from Fira (capital). It is the seat of the homonymous local community of the Municipality of Thira. During the medieval times (Venetian conquest), it was one of the castles of the island. Today, at the top of the hill on which the modern village is built, still stands the Venetian tower (Goulas), the old castle. It became world famous thanks to the prehistoric settlement, which was discovered during the excavations, which were systematically carried out in the area by Spyros Marinatos, in 1967.
