Itinerary
Day 1: Syrrako – Kalarrites Villages
Stop At: Sirakon, Sirakon, North Tzoumerka, Ioannina Region, Epirus
The village “Syrrako” with the village “Kalarites” are one of the most famous villages of Tzoumerka, ideal for mountain tourism. These are preserved, stone settlements, that enchant visitors.
When the French consul in Ioannina, Pouqueville, visits “Syrrako” and “Kalarites”, in the 19th century, was impressed by the commercial and natural beauties of the place that Ali Pasha had chosen as a resort and had, for this reason, the open and road Ioannina – Kalarites.
Preserved threshing and huts are located in Syrrako.

Stop At: Syrrako – Kalarrytes Path, Kalarites 26224 Greece
We start from Syrrako traditional village and then we walk until Kalarrites village. At the end we go to Kouiasa where we make a brake to see the springs.

Famous tailors, builders, merchants, stone craftsmen and silversmiths, come from “Kalarites”, which with “Syrrako” are traditional settlements and tourist resorts of the mountainous “Tzoumerka”. The natural beauty is amazing.

Stop At: Kipinas Monastery, Tzoumerka, North Tzoumerka 440 01 Greece
The impressive monastery with its wild beauty and quirky architecture is built on almost the middle of a huge rock on the northeast side of the Gorge of Arachthon River and is admired to build over vertical rocks.
Access is made from a small path, carved into the rock, and continues with a small hanging wooden bridge, leading to the monastery. The wooden bridge is mobile and the monks climbed it with leverage, so that the monastery becomes inaccessible to the bandits, as a 4-metre gap is created on the cliff when it rises.

The settlement, built at an altitude of 840m. amphitheatrically at the foot of the mountain “Strogoula” (2,107 m), perhaps the most imposing peak of Tzoumerka.
The 500-year-old plane tree and the historic fountain “Arapis” dominate the main square, next to the main church of Agia Paraskevi

Day 2: Otter Path
Stop At: Frasta, Frasta, Central Tzoumerka, Arta Region, Epirus
The historic bridge of “Plaka” built in 1866, was considered the largest single-arched bridge in the Balkans, with opening chambers 40 meters, height 19 meters and opening at the top 3.2 meters

Stop At: Arachthos Potamos, Greece
We walk to Otter path. The trail starts from the bridge “Plaka” and ends at the bridge “Tzaris”.
We walk on the steep banks of the river “Arachthos” which like huge stone walls end up in the river.

Stop At: Kardamos 695 00, Greece
Tzaris bridge is one of the most important bridges that connects villages over the Arachthos River. The beautiful banks are a challenge to swim in crystal waters.

Day 3: Katsanochoria
Stop At: Kostitsi, Kostitsi, Ioannina Region, Epirus
From kostitsi village after an easy 30 min walk there’s Prophet Elias Church. It’s an amazing location, the view is excelent. You can see the 2 rivers joining inside th canyon.

Stop At: Politsa ancient stone bridge, Unnamed Road, Voria Tzoumerka 440 13, Greece
The bridge “Politsa” was built at the end of the 19th century in order to move the inhabitants from the villages of Ampelochori, Raftanai, Akmada, Pramanta, Ktistades, towards Ioannina. The bridge consists of four arcs of which the three smaller ones rest on the ground, while the large arc is over the river “Arachthos”.

Stop At: Klifkis waterfall, Kalentzi 440 13, Greece
From Kaletzi village the route leading to one of the most important sights of the area, the springs and the wateffalls of Klifki, the 1st is 47m. height.
When we reach the river we see the last waterfall of Kliffki in an idyllic location with a lake and incredible formations on the rocks
