Walking on Stadiou street towards Syntagma square, we come across the mansion which used to house the Parliament. It was found in 1875, and currently hosts a history museum with live exhibitions.We’ ll cross Syntagma square where the current Parliament House is .
Walking down Mitropoleos street till we reach the grand cathedral of Athens, we will get to see hotels, pastry-shops, restaurants, as well as the Church of Agia Dynami.
Following Paleologou street, a small picturesque alley full of taverns and stores, we will walking in parallel line to Acropolis, the sacred rock formation… in the heart of the ‘Neighbourhood of the Gods’. On our way, we will come across the first School of Athens and the stores that envelop in a very natural way the malls, the taverns, the bougainvilleas and the rest climbing plants that form artistic archs above the heads of the passers by.
At the end of the street are ,the old church of Agia Ekaterini which was built on ancient grounds ,the famous Arch of Triumph …right in front of the temple of Zeus and the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates, which we may visit right away and stand on ancient ground. We could also see and marvel at the cave of Aglavros, the big cave of Acropolis.
In all our walking we will speak about your questions and I will tell you myths and songs , maybe we could dance too 🙂
At the end of our ‘journey’ we may take a break to grab something to eat or drink a cup of coffee.
At this junction is very near the museum of Acropolis, right across the metro station of Acropolis( red line) , as well as the entrance of the archaeological site of Actopolis, which is also close by the avenue that leads to Syntagma square.
This route will show us how nice the three levels of the city, modern and old Athens build on the Ancient City are knit harmoniously and coexisting, giving the guideline and activating the levels of existence all humans that experience them.
