What makes Private tour at Cape Sounio and the Temple of Poseidon a unique experience ?
Only 15 minutes from the center of Athens, in Paleo Faliro, Flisvos Marina is Greece’s first exclusive marina to offer large-scale mooring capacity for mega-yacht owners from Greece and abroad. It is awarded with 5 Gold Anchors, obtaining the highest rating at the Gold Anchor Award Scheme of the British Marine Federation.
Our second stop, 30 minutes from Flisvos marina, is Vouliagmeni Lake. A place ranked by Greece’s Special Committee for the Protection of Natural Thermal Resources among the recognized thermal springs. The healing properties of the natural springs which supply the Lake are the result of the water’s high concentration in salts and minerals (potassium, sodium, lithium, ammonium, calcium, iron, chlorine and iodine). All this, in combination with the high water temperatures, help relieve afflictions of the musculoskeletal system, promote post-traumatic rehabilitation, and help with gynecological, and dermatological diseases.
The Lake’s water gushes from springs 50 to 100 meters deep at a temperature ranging between 22 to 29 degrees Celsius all year round. The Lake flows into the sea as its water level is 50 cm above the sea water level. This helps in the continuous renewal of the lake’s water and results in its brackish composition.
Third stop 30 more minutes from Vouliagneni…The temple of Poseidon at Sounion, was constructed from 444 to 440 BC dedicated to the God of the sea. This was during the ascendancy of the Athenian statesman Pericles, who also rebuilt the Parthenon in Athens… The temple at Sounion was built to provide the first and final vantage points from which incoming and exiting ships could be seen due to the excellent visibility of the sea lanes to and from Piraeus. The Cape of Sounion is located on the coast of the Myrtoan Sea in the southern part of Greece.
