Athens Trip Overview
In this tour, we follow exactly the footsteps of Saint Paul. We’ll start from Athens by driving via the coastal highway to Peloponnese. The first stop is the famous Canal of Corinth which connects the Ionian sea with the Aegean sea. We’ll make a stop there about 30 minutes to look at the canal from the bridge and if we are lucky we might see a ship going through the isthmus. Then we are going to Kechries the old port of Ancient Corinth where Saint Paul embarked on his Journey to Ephesos. Then to Ancient Corinth where Saint Paul spent two years from 51AD to 53AD.He worked as tend maker. You will visit the museum, the temple of Apollo from 540BC, The Theater, the Roman Odeon, and the Vima (step) from where St. Paul preached the Corinthians in Christianity and finally the Lechaion street(the main shopping road). Then to Acrocorinth or “Upper Corinth”, the Acropolis of Ancient Corinth. The view from there is spectacular.This was the most important fortress in the region from ancient times.

Canal of Corinth connects the Ionian sea with the Aegean sea through the Isthmus and joins Peloponnese to the Greek mainland. At the time of Paul’s visit to Corinth, the Corinth canal had not been constructed. The construction of the canal started in 1882 and was completed in 1893.

Kechries is a village in the municipality of Corinth in Corinthia in Greece, It takes its name from the ancient port town Kenchreai which was situated at the same location. From this port few weeks after his trial saint paul decided to leave Corinth and return to Ephesos taking with him Priscilla and Aquila.

The Diolkos was a paved trackway near Corinth in Ancient Greece which enabled boats to be moved overland across the Isthmus of Corinth. The shortcut allowed ancient vessels to avoid the long and dangerous circumnavigation of the Peloponnese peninsula.
