Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL DAY

Pass By: Athens International Airport, Attiki Odos, Spata Artemida 190 04, Greece
Our driver will wait at the airport holding a sign with your name on it and transfer you at your hotel for check in.

Day 2: ATHENS – DELPHI – METEORA

Stop At: Delphi Archaeological Museum, Ethniki Odos Amfissas – Livadias, Delphi 330 54 Greece
• In the morning, our bus driver will pick you from your hotel and will head for Delphi where we will visit Delphi site (considered by ancient Greeks to be “the navel of the Earth) with its Oracle, the Stadium (where the Pytheia Games were held and considered as sacred as the Olympic Games held in Olympia), the Ancient Theatre where could seat more than 5000 spectators and of course the Museum of Delphi, where you can admire the ”Charioteer”, one of the best bronze statues ever! Delphi is perhaps best known for the oracle at the sanctuary that was dedicated to Apollo during the classical period

Stop At: Meteora, Meteora, Trikala Region, Thessaly
After departing Delphi, we will reach Kalambaka, a small traditional town that is built at the foot of the majestic rocky formation called Meteora (“suspended rocks), with the 6 Meteora Monasteries nested at the top of these rocks. Dinner and overnight in Meteora.

Day 3: METEORA – ATHENS

Stop At: Kalambaka, Kalambaka, Trikala Region, Thessaly
• In the morning, we will visit the BYZANTINE MONASTERIES of Meteora, that are included on the UNESCO world heritage monument list. Meteora is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos. The six (of an original twenty four) monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area. We will pay an inside visit to two of these monasteries, before we return back to Athens, via Trikala, Lamia, and Thermopylae. In Thermopylae, we will make a brief stop at the statue of the Spartan King Leonidas, which stands as a memorial of his battle with his fellow 300 Spartan warriors (supported by 700 Thespian warriors) against thousands of Persian soldiers of the Persian Emperor Xerxes, in 480 BC.

Late in the afternoon we will return to Athens for overnight

Day 4: TOUR IN ACROPOLIS & MUSEUM WITH GUIDE

Stop At: Acropolis, Via Dionysiou Areopagitou Str., Athens 105 58 Greece
In the morning, we will start our Athens City Tour with a bus tour of the city, admiring among others the Parliament, the University, the Library, the Presidential Residence (Ex-King Residence) with the traditional presidential Guards, the Panathinaic Stadium (where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896) and the Temple of Zeus before we proceed on foot to visit the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum.

Stop At: Acropolis Museum, Dionysiou Areopagitou 15, Athens 117 42 Greece
After Acropolis we will visit the new Acropolis Museum.

Day 5: ATHENS – CRUISE TO SARONIC ISLANDS (POROS, HYDRA, AEGINA)

Stop At: Hydra, Hydra, Saronic Gulf Islands, Attica
• Early in the morning our bus driver will meet you at your hotel to transfer you to Piraeus port to get on the cruise boat. The cruise starts at 08:15 hrs so get ready to sail the Saronic Gulf. The first stop will be at the island of Hydra, famous for its cosmopolitan visitors, its pedestrian narrow streets (the only car available is the police car) and the donkeys used for transportation of goods

Stop At: Poros, Poros, Kefalonia, Ionian Islands
The next stop will be the island of Poros, right off the coast of Eastern Peloponnese and only a 15-20 minute ferry sail from it. The island is famous for its lemon trees and its good food.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Aegina Town, Aegina Town, Aegina, Saronic Gulf Islands, Attica
The last stop will be in the island of Aegina (famous for its production of pistachio nut and for the monastery of Agios Nektarios (the patron saint of the island). Lunch will be served onboard. The cruise ends at approximately 19:00 hrs and our bus driver will be at the port to take you back to your hotel.

Day 6: SUNSET TOUR CAPE SOUNIO

Stop At: Temple of Poseidon, Cape Sounio, Sounio 195 00 Greece
Our driver will pick you up from your hotel and passing by the coast line of Athens and Athenian Riviera and following the Mediterranean coastline known as “Athenian Riviera” we will reach at “Cape Sounio”and the Temple of God Poseidon! You take the chance of the breathtaking sunset over the Aegean Sea!
According to the legend, Cape Sounion is the spot where Aegeus, king of Athens, was lead to his death, falling off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea.
The myth says that King’s Aegeus son, Theseus was sent to Crete to kill the Minotaur, a monster that was half man and half bull. If he succeeded, Aegeus asked to put on the boat white sails during his return. Although he did kill Minotaur, he forgot to change the black sails. Aegeus was anxiously looking out from Cape Sounion. Despaired when he saw a black sail on his son Theseus’s ship, returning from Crete, which led him to believe that his son had been killed, he decided to kill himself.
