Itinerary

Day 1: CORINTH & THE WINERIES

Stop At: Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos), Argous 105 Ancient Korinthos village, Corinth 200 07 Greece
After a short drive further into the Peloponnese we stop to explore the beautifully preserved remains of Ancient Corinth, one of Greece’s most powerful and influential city states of Antiquity. Stroll through the streets, temples, markets, and fountains in the footsteps of the Classical Greeks, Ancient Romans & St. Paul before you. Refreshments & rest stops are also on hand at the local Cafes at its entrance if needed.

Stop At: Nemea, Nemea, Corinthia Region, Peloponnese
At our first winery, we meet our expert sommelier for an opportunity to learn about the local cultivation including the special characteristics of this wine region and the production process. We learn about some of the highest quality white & red wines in Greece such as the grape varieties such as golden Kidonitsa, the flowery aromas of Malagouzia, crisp citrus Assyrtiko, and the regional red full-bodied & fruity Agiorgitiko, all accompanied with plates of local cold cuts, cheeses, and olive.

Stop At: Nemea, Nemea, Corinthia Region, Peloponnese
A short twenty minute drive through the valleys & pretty scenery of this area then brings us to our second winery to further expand & open our eyes to the riches & varieties on offer in the Nemea region. An informative tour continues to broaden our knowledge with tastings including wines produced from varieties such as the popular white Roditis, the subtle fruity aromas of Savatiano, and spicy Moschofilero, among others. What could be better than continuing with lunch at the winery (included if booking the gold or platinum package) in the company of your host with time to relax & enjoy its wine in the shade before departing for Nafplio.

Stop At: Nafplio, Nafplio, Argolis Region, Peloponnese
After the sites of the morning, we arrive at one of the most beautiful towns in Greece, the historic port city of Nafplio by the sea. This city has a definite artistic feel with enchanting narrow streets of neoclassic & Venetian architecture, upmarket local craft & clothes shops, and is packed with cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes & which line the marina with views to the Venetian castle of Bourtzi in the bay. Check into your comfortable central Hotel, Siesta, Refresh & enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure in this charming old city.

Day 2: EPIDAURUS & THE WINERIES

Stop At: The Great Theatre of Epidaurus, Ethniki Odos Isthmou Archaias Epidavrou, Epidavros 210 52 Greece
After leisurely breakfast our tour continues with a short drive through olive fields & small countryside roads to our next stop at the UNESCO-listed Sanctuary of Asklepios, first healing centre of the Ancient World. You will also see the impressive Theatre of Epidaurus, one of the most visited ancient sites in Greece. The temple and theatre date from the 4th century and feature masterpieces of classical Greek architecture. Join the other visitors who test its world-famous acoustics with a poem or a song and visit the on-site museum.

Similarly with the other wineries visited, today’s winery, the Palivou Estate Winery, is highly regarded & recognized by a number of national & international awards. As well as the production of red & white wines from varieties such as Agiorgitiko & Moschofilero, the Palivou winery specialises in blending these with standard classics such as Cabernet Sauvignon & Chardonnay. A side platter (silver package) or wonderful lunch (included if choosing either gold & platinum packages) at the winery is provided with the opportunity to continue the experience in good company before your return.

Day 3: ADDITIONAL DAY ON REQUEST

Stop At: Olympia, Olympia, Elis Region, West Greece
On request (additional cost) our extended wine tour visits the site of Ancient Olympia and a local Vinyard and includes an extra night in Olympia. Please let us know if you would like this additional day.
